Built Because Utility Software Needed a Place to Run
ACS Origins
ACS began as the answer to a question the portfolio’s software companies kept hearing from utilities: can you show us the infrastructure? General-purpose public cloud could not, and utilities building their own hosting were facing delays and resource constraints.
ACS Today
ACS built two dedicated facilities in Virginia and Maryland, put its controls through a SOC 2 Type II audit, mapped them to the NERC CIP standards, and opened the platform to critical infrastructure applications. Sentient Energy and Renovo Automation run on it today. ACS now offers the same infrastructure to other utility software vendors that develop OT applications.
ACS Role and Scope
ACS staff operate the platform around the clock. The company is not a NERC Registered Entity and does not operate the bulk electric system; it hosts the systems that others use to do so, and holds itself to the standards those systems are measured against.
